The Arts and the Library

The arts and the school library go together like peas in a pod!  Here are just a few reasons why:

The arts teach children that problems can have more than one solution and that questions can have more than one answer.*
  • The library is the place to wonder, explore, create & share.   Ideas and questions are our specialty!

The arts celebrate multiple perspectives. One of their large lessons is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world.*
  • The library has resources and tools to reach out to the global community.  Our collection is carefully selected to represent a wide range of ideas, interests, and multiple literacies.

The arts teach children that in complex forms of problem solving
purposes are seldom fixed, but change with circumstance and opportunity.
Learning in the arts requires the ability and a willingness to surrender to the unanticipated possibilities of the work as it unfolds.*

  • The library is a learning, growing environment, where questions are welcomed, problem-solving skills are nurtured, and creativity and adaptability are required.

The arts teach students that small differences can have large effects. The arts traffic in subtleties.*
  • The library is a great place to explore ideas, think deeply, and create new understandings.
